It only took 50 seconds for Spain’s Luis Gonzalez to draw blood, but a relentless Denmark used a 6-0 run stretching from the middle of the second quarter through most of the third to overpower Spain 15-11 during the second day of Yellow Division play at the World Lacrosse Championships.

In easily the most competitive game of the day at TD Waterhouse Stadium, the Iroquois Nation defeated a scrappy team from England, 13-10. Physical play was the norm; a total of 16 penalty minutes were served between the teams.

Coverage of the 2006 World Lacrosse Championships is presented by Davenport & Company, LLC

The World Lacrosse Championships kicked off on July 14th at TD Waterhouse Stadium in London, Ontario. With representatives of 21 nations competing, as you might expect, flags were everywhere.

The evening’s Opening Ceremonies featured the “Parade of Athletes”, the traditional blessing by members of the Iroquois Nation, and entertainment by an “All Star Band” from Ontario, fronted by Aaron Walpole, the third-place finisher from the last season of Canadian Idol.
