The
Western Albemarle Girl's varsity lacrosse team has an immediate
opening for the Head Coach Position. Interested candidates whould
contact Steve Heon, Athletic Director, at 434.823.8705 to schedule
an interview.
Compensation
is per a pre-determined salary scale. Practices are scheduled
to begin February 14, 2006; candidates need to be able to make
a time committment that may extend through mid-June.

Hall
of Fame Celebration

The
Charlottesville Chapter of USLacrosse will induct nine new members
into the Virginia Lacrosse Hall of Fame at a dinner on October
29th at 6:30pm. The event will be held at the Omni Hotel, Charlottesville;
the cost is $60 per guest. A cash bar will be available.
In addition to the induction ceremony, the Chapter will present an Achievement
Award to Gene Corrigan. The Hall of Fame Class of 2005 is:

Albemarle
Jamboree Returns
Fifth Year on Lax |

The
Fifth Annual Albemarle Lacrosse Jamboree will take place on three
straight days, March 23 to 25. Games will be played at various
schools
throughout
Central
VA.
The host schools on Saturday (the main event) will be Albemarle
HS and Western Albemarle HS.
The
Jamboree will take a break so all teams can go see the UVA vs
John Hopkins game.
Teams that are scheduled include:

Hotshots
Returns
Fall Lacrosse for Area Boys |

Hotshots
Lacrosse, for boys grades 6-12, returns again this year. All
levels of experience welcome. Sessions will be held at the St.
Anne's Belfield Lower School Campus. This year's Hot Shots will
feature college and high school coaches, many special guests,
and free give aways!
Session dates are Sundays from October 2nd through November 6th, 1:00pm to 3:30
pm. All six sessions for a non-refundable fee of $125.00.

The
Charlottesville Summer Lacrosse League Championship will be decided
Tuesday, July 26th, with Red facing Green at 6:30pm at Darden
Towe Park.
In
Semifinal play on Sunday, July 24, Red defeated a scrappy Orange
team 8-7. In the second game of the doubleheader, Green held
off three-time defending champion Gold 10-9.

After
the opening round, Orange and Gold move on to the semifinal round
on Sunday, July 24th. At noon, Red will meet Orange; at 1:15pm,
Green will take on defending champions Gold. Both games will
take place at Darden Towe Park.
The Championship
to be decided on Tuesday, July 26th.

Playoffs to begin Thursday, July 21st |

The
final makeup games, Red v. Blue and Orange v. Gold, will
be played on Tuesday, July 19th. There will be no play on Wednesday,
July 20.
The
playoffs will begin Thursday, the 20th. While the pairings are
not set, the first round will include Blue, Maroon, Orange, and
lower-seed of Gold or Green.
Semifinal
games will be be played on Sunday, July 24 with the Championship
to be decided on Tuesday, July 26th.

Schedule
Changes: The Green/Red game that was to be played
on Thursday, July 7th, will be played on Tuesday, July 12th.
The Orange/Blue game from that evening will be played on Tuesday,
July 19th. The playoff game originally scheduled for the 19th
is moved to field 2 on Wedneday, the 20th, and will be played
in tandem with the second playoff game.

past weekend, Petey Lytle (Albemarle High School Senior
Defenseman) and Chris Becken (St. Anne's-Belfield Senior Midfielder)
participated in the US Lacrosse Senior Showcase.
Congratulations

Undefeated in MD Tourney |

The
U-13 Boys Charlottesville Albemarle Youth Lacrosse Club went
4-0 at The Cockeysville Invitational Tournament this past weekend
in Baltimore. The team compiled a total record of 9-0 from the
two tournaments they competed.
In Baltimore CAYLC defeated South Texas 9-2 and Unionville, PA
7-5 on Saturday. On Sunday the team defeated Lower Bucks, PA 12-2
and Crooked Crosse, PA 8-5. In the previous weekend tournament
The Greensboro (NC) Lax Fest, CAYLC went 5-0 defeating teams from
Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Charlotte.
Offensively the team was led by Owen Van Arsdale, Chapin Speidel,
Billy Crist, Michael Morris and Hobie Jiranek. The defense was
lead by Josh D'Antoni and Charles Schrek. And all three goalies,
Kennan Miller, Jake Huber and Carter Speidel consistently turned
in strong performances.
The other members of the team, and contributors all, were David
Gray, Peter Henderson, Sam Hoy, Sean Knightly, Alex Kuehler, Landon
Mann, Willie McClintic, Robert Mellen, Branford Rogers, Calvin
Satterfield, Charles Sipe, Ben Turner, Turner Whitworth, Owen Wangensteen
and Mathew Young. The team was coached by Jeff and Bob Mattie.

the 2005 Charlottesville Summer Lacrosse League on Sunday, June
19 at Darden Towe Park. Schedules and rosters are available here.
If you have been assigned a team but have not yet paid, please
bring a check to Darden Towe Park on Sunday. If you have sent
an application but have not been assigned a team, be at Darden
Towe Park at noon on Sunday to receive your team assignment.
A very limited number of team slots are still available. If
you have not yet sent your application, come to Darden
Towe Park on
Sunday with a completed application and a check for $50.

World
Team in Charlottesville
Exhibition
Game June 11 |

The
USA Women's World Lacrosse Team arrives Charlottesville June
10 and will work out at St. Anne's Belfield School lower school
fields until June 17. An exhibition game will be played at STAB
June 11 at 7:30. Players will be available for autographs and
tee shirts will be available for purchase to help support the
team.

The
Charlottesville Women's Summer Lacrosse League will play Wednesday
nights at Darden Towe Park, beginning June 29th through August
10th. Depending on the number of teams, Sunday afternoon games
may be added to the schedule.
Applications
are due by June 22. The league is open to high school aged women
and older. The cost for all players is $40 if paid by June 22,
$45 after. Application forms will be available at cville-lax.com
shortly.

by June 16. The league is open to men aged 15 and older. The

The
2005 season of the Seminole Lacrosse League kicks off on June
13 with the Boy's evening clinics. The clinics, for boys aged
4 to 13, will run nightly through Thursday, June 16. The clinic
is for skill levels ranging from beginner to expert, emphasizing
fundamentals such as stick skills and rules.
The
Boy's League will begin on Monday, June 20 and will run Monday
evenings and Saturday mornings, through Saturday, July 30.
The
Girls clinics, for girls aged 7 to 16, will run nightly from
June 21-23. Like the boy's clinics, the focus is on lacrosse
fundamentals.
The
Girl's League will begin on Tuesday, June 28 and will run Tuesday
evenings and Saturday mornings, through Saturday, July 30.
Participants
MUST be members of USLacrosse. Applications

The
St. Anne's-Belfield girls team powered their way to the Dogwood
Invitational Tournament with a 15-3 win over Charlottesville.
The USLacrosse MVP was Caitlin Sims.
In
the Boy's tournament, STAB took the Championship in a nail-biter,
moving past Covenant 6-5. With 10:43 left in the final quarter,
the game was tied at 3-3. STAB managed to take a 2 shot lead,
but Covenant moved within one with :43 on the clock. After the
resulting face-off, Covenant moved to tie, but STAB came up with
a big save with :23 in the game. The USLacrosse MVP was Chris
Becken.
