Parents! This Privacy Statement contains important information required by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Please be sure you read and understand it.

cville-lax.com knows that your privacy, and that of your children, is important to you. The information that we collect and store depends on what you do when you visit our site. It also depends on what service you may sign up for off-line. This is how we handle the information we learn about you.

If you use the site to read or download information...
We store standard "Web Server" information, including the Internet address (IP number) that your computer is assigned at the time you access the site, the date and time you access each file, the number of bytes transferred, and the Internet address of the web site from which you directly linked to each page (the "referrer"). If you linked from a search engine, we store the "search string" that you used to find our site. We may perform a "reverse DNS lookup" to determine the machine name, domain, and country associated with your IP number. This information is provided as a "log file" by our ISP's web server software and use off-the-shelf software to analyze those logs.

We use the information we collect to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, to help us make the site more useful to you, to create a better web experience for you, and to help us and our ISP technically manage our site. ( Our ISP has access to our log files, but does not share this information with anyone else.) We may share aggregate statistics (such as the number of page views) with our sponsors and partners, but under no circumstances will we share any information that could be directly linked to you.

You must provide an email address to us before we can send you email. If the email address identifies a child under 13 years old, COPPA requires that we have a parent's consent before we can collect that information. Therefore, we maintain two email databases: a database used to send the email (the "listserve"), and an off-line database used to comply with the requirements of COPPA. This off-line database contains the user's email address, whether the email address is that of a child under 13, and information required to contact parents when necessary. This information includes the name of the child and parents, a contact email and/or phone number, a postal address if you choose to grant consent via the mail, records of our communications with you, and database fields necessary to maintain the database.

We also save any written correspondence with you. Frankly, we're uncomfortable collecting this information, but the law requires that we take steps to verifiy that parental permission has been given to collect the information we need to provide our services. We will not give this information to anyone except under court order.

If you sign up for an on-line clinic or chat features...
We require that each user have an account name to access these features. A password will be required to access an account. Third parties will see the user name during on-line clinics or on-line chats, but will not be able to relate the user name to an individual unless that individual chooses to identify himself. Our procedures for obtaining and maintaing parental consent are similar to those that we use for email lists.

Our on-line clinic and chat software maintains a list of users and passwords; in addition to the information listed above, our off-line permission database also contains information to relate user accounts to parental permissions. Even after a user account is closed, we may continue to maintain information about the account. (For instance, to keep users who have committed terms of service violations from signing on with a new account.)

During an on-line clinic or chat session, we collect and maintain the same information that we collect when you visit our web site. In addition, we collect the time you log on, the time you log out, and technical usage statistics. We collect this information for the same reasons we collect information when you visit our web site and share it the same way. We may also record the clinic or chat, and post the record on our web site for other users to download or view.

Except as stated above, we do not disclose information to third parties, including email addresses. Use of the site or the site's services to attempt to "harvest" email or other information is prohibited.
