With the Cavaliers facing a deficit in the second half on the road against Syracuse, Duff started a Virginia comeback by causing a turnover in transition that led to a Virginia possession and goal. After SU gained possession after the draw, an errant shot was raced down by Duff to give the Cavaliers the ball. At the other end of the field Virginia scored to go ahead for a second time.

After Syracuse tied the game, Duff won the ensuing draw, attacked the cage, and drew a shooting space that she converted, putting the Cavaliers ahead for good. A Weymouth goal gave the Cavaliers a two-goal cushion less than a minute later. Syracuse pulled within one, but Duff won the draw, her fourth of the game, and Virginia held on for the win.

Duff leads all Cavaliers with seven ground balls on the season and ranks third on the team in draw controls.

The No. 7/6 Cavaliers (3-0) return to action as they host Temple on Wednesday, March 7 at 12:00 at University Hall Turf Field.
