Virginia Fares Well at South of the Border Tournament
From media releases
The Virginia women’s lacrosse opened up the competition phase of their 2007 campaign with a series of scrimmages at the annual South of the Border Tournament in Chapel Hill, N. C. on Sunday. The Cavaliers had a chance to play their roster, giving the team a good jump start on their preparations for the opener on February 21 against Virginia Tech.
“The players competed hard,” said Virginia head coach Julie Myers. “It was great to see them out there and for us to see the results of our hard work to this point.”
“It was a great opportunity for us,” said captain Jess Wasilewski. “We have worked hard in the preseason and this was a good chance for us to get some outside competition as we continue to progress forward.”
The Cavaliers open their 2007 campaign at home against ACC rival Virginia Tech on Wednesday, February 21. The opening draw against the Hokies is at 7:00 pm. The game is worth one point in the Commonwealth Challenge, the annual all-sports competition between Virginia and Virginia Tech.
