Hotshots Lacrosse will be celebrating its 5th anniversary in the Fall of 2006.

It was in 2002 that the current concept for a Fall clinic for boys grades 5 â?? 12 was developed. It came out of a meeting that included the two original partners, Myron Ripley and Porter Smith, plus Gerry and Marianne Starsia, Duffy Birckhead, Matt Yancey, and Michael Leahy. The idea was to bring something new and different to the Charlottesville lacrosse community.

That something different was a Fall clinic for boys grades 5-12. The first 2 years it was held at Western Albemarle High School. Now for the 3rd year in a row it will be held at the St. Anne’s-Belfield lower school campus on the Route 250 Bypass. Ripley, Smith and the Starsias have continued their involvement and now include Bo Perriello and Rodney Rullman in their coaching group.

The clinic has been a welcomed addition to the Charlottesville community, allowing young men to work on their game in the non traditional time of the Fall. It is a response to the growth of the sport of lacrosse and the need to offer year round training.
