The Seminole Lacrosse League will kick off its 26th season tonight with a four-night clinic for boys aged 5 – 13. The clinic will be held at Darden Towe Park Monday through Thursday evenings, from 6:30 to 8:00pm.
If you would like your child to participate, but have not yet registered, visit http://seminolelax.org/ and show up to the field tonight.
The purpose of the Seminole League Clinic is to educate and prepare players for participation in the Seminole League. It is for all players with skill levels ranging from beginner to expert. Points of emphasis include fundamentals, stick skills, rules, and fun. It is very important for beginners to attend the clinic before participating in the League.
Players should come to the first night of the Clinic with a stick and gloves. Players who have not signed up for the Clinic are welcome to attend; please bring a competed application form and a check.
The Seminole League sports an extremely high coach to player ratio, insuring that all participants receive individual attention. Many of Seminoleâ??s coaches are still active players themselves, and have played in collegiate, club, and international competition.

A Note from Seminole’s Al Sadtler
Dear Parents and Friends of Seminole Lacrosse,
Our partners in youth lacrosse, the Albemarle County Parks and Rec, have asked us to be aware of the parking restrictions at Darden Towe Park.
There is NO Parking near the men’s lacrosse fields nearest Route 20!
The very dry weather and heat have threatened the grass along that field and parking there may cause permanent damage to that area. There are no parking signs along the road nearest the tennis courts that we must obey.
Please park in the parking lots and walk to the fields.
Albemarle County Parks and Rec are our partners and hosts at Darden Towe. We are forever grateful for their hospitality in the summer and the use of this beautiful park. We cannot risk damaging the park or our standing with the county.

It appears the line of showers heading impacting Charlottesville will be well out of the area by 6:30. Seminole Boy’s practices will be held as scheduled.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO PARENTS!
The Seminole League takes safety very seriously. Saturday morning is projected to host temperatures ranging from the mid-80s into the 90s. Seminole will play all levels, however, in order to safely accommodate the projected heat, will run shorter periods of play, require all participants to drink water during breaks, and coaches will be on the lookout for symptoms of heat exhaustion.
Please anticipate that sessions will likely finish in less than the usual hour and a half allocated for play. PLEASE do NOT drop your child off at Darden Towe Park and then leave!
It is also important for parents to prepare players for the anticipated conditions. The Seminole Lacrosse League asks you to:
1) Be sure that your child has adequately hydrated before coming to the field.
2) Be sure that your child comes to the field with enough water to stay hydrated. We remind parents that water, not sports drinks or sodas, are the best defense against heat-related issues. In particular, sports drinks are great for AFTER play, not during play.
3) Be sure that you instruct your child to drink plenty of fluids during breaks, whether or not they are thirsty.
4) Be sure that you instruct your child that if your child develops a headache or dizziness, develops nausea, or stops sweating despite the heat, he or she should IMMEDIATELY inform a coach so that they can intervene.

Monday: The Seminole Lacrosse League begins its regular season with practice for Boys aged 5-12, beginning at 6:30pm at Darden Towe Park.
Tuesday: The Charlottesville Summer Lacrosse League continues play at 6:30 on the Turf Field at the STAB Lower School. Registration for the league remains open to all player 15 and older. Also, the Seminole Lacrosse League begins its regular season for Girls with practice beginning at 6:30pm at Darden Towe Park.
Wednesday: The Seminole Women’s League begins its regular season with beginning at 6:30pm at Darden Towe Park. The cost is $35. The league will provide pennies and a lined field each week; participants should come ready to play with a stick, googles, and mouthguard. Thursday: The Charlottesville Summer Lacrosse League continues play at 6:30. Location is TBD. The Seminole Lacrosse Players League, for High School players 14 and up, begins its regular season for beginning at 6:30pm at Darden Towe Park. COMA (men’s players 30-ish and older) begins Thursday evening play on the practice field beside the Charlottesville High School Stadium turf field, 5:30pm to 7:30pm. (COMA respects “lacrosse standard time”.)

Saturday: The Seminole Lacrosse League continues with game day at Darden Towe Park. For start times, see the Seminole League site for specific times. Also, the third annual COMA CUP master’s tournament will be played at Historic Pleasant Grove on Sat June 23, 2012, from 9am to 1pm. The Seminole Lacrosse League will kick off its Silver Anniversary season tonight with a four-night clinic for boys aged 5 – 13. The clinic will be held at Darden Towe Park Monday through Thursday evenings, from 6:30 to 8:00pm.
The League is pleased that, once again, University of Virginia Head Coach Dom Starsia and former VMI Head Coach Doug Bartlett will be speakers at the clinic.
