The Seminole Lacrosse League will kick off its Silver Anniversary season tonight with a four-night clinic for boys aged 5 – 13. The clinic will be held at Darden Towe Park Monday through Thursday evenings, from 6:30 to 8:00pm.

The League is pleased that, once again, University of Virginia Head Coach Dom Starsia and former VMI Head Coach Doug Bartlett will be speakers at the clinic.

If you would like your child to participate, but have not yet registered, simply download a registration application and bring it to the field tonight.

The purpose of the Seminole League Clinic is to educate and prepare players for participation in the Seminole League. It is for all players with skill levels ranging from beginner to expert. Points of emphasis include fundamentals, stick skills, rules, and fun. It is very important for beginners to attend the clinic before participating in the League.

Players should come to the first night of the Clinic with a stick and gloves. Players who have not signed up for the Clinic are welcome to attend; please bring a competed application form and a check.

The Seminole League sports an extremely high coach to player ratio, insuring that all participants receive individual attention. Many of Seminole�??s coaches are still active players themselves, and have played in collegiate, club, and international competition.

• Training session is mandatory for anyone who wants to officiate in the Boys YMCA League, Boys Middle School Lacrosse League or JV and Varsity High School games this year.

ACAC Lacrosse Academy is teaming up with former University of Virginia All-American and current MLL Long Island Lizard, Ben Rubeor, to offer two new sessions of lacrosse academies. Each Academy will focus on the offensive and defensive aspects of the game.

These unique lacrosse learning experiences, the acacHoos Offense Academy and the the acacHoos Defense Academy, are presented for experienced middle and high school lacrosse players. In these hands-on Academies, held at ACAC�??s indoor arena, participants will be interact and learn from college and professional lacrosse players.

In the acacHoos Offense Academy, attackmen and midfielders will get the inside scoop on stickwork, shooting, dodging, feeding and unsettled situations. The first session runs on Wednesday evenings, October 15 �?? November 5, with a second session (also on Wednesdays) November 12 & 19 and December 3 & 10. Middle school players take the court from 7:00 �?? 8:15pm; high school players from 8:15 �?? 9:30pm.

In the acacHoos Offense Academy, defensive skills and philosophies will be covered by Ben�??s hand-picked staff. Midfielders and defensemen will benefit. Topics will include short- and long-pole defensive techniques, man to man defense strategies, stickwork, and checks. The first session runs on Thursday evenings, October 16 �?? November 6, with a second session (also on Thursdays) November 13 & 20 and December 4 & 11. Middle school players take the court from 7:00 �?? 8:15pm; high school players from 8:15 �?? 9:30pm.

The the acacHoos Lacrosse Academies will be held at the Indoor Arena in ACAC Adventure Central, located at 200 Four Seasons Drive. The cost for ACAC members with a full facility family membership is $120.00, for ACAC members, $130.00, and for non-members, $140.00.

ACAC has announced the dates for their Summer Lacrosse Academies, including, in a first for Charlottesville, an overnight Lacrosse Academy. All camp days include sport instruction, indoor/outdoor play, speed and agility training, and an hour of swim time at the Adventure Central Waterpark.

The Girls Lacrosse Academy will run in two sessions, June 9-12, and July 14-17, from 8:30am to 4:30pm. This Academy is for girls aged 9-14.

The Boys Lacrosse Academy will run July 7-10, with a second session July 21-24. This Academy is for boys aged 9-14. There will be an option for a 3 day – 4 night overnight camp; campers will participate in the day camp, then spend the evening swimming at the Adventure Central Waterpark, playing indoor lacrosse in the Arena, and then spend the night in “The Big Room”. Camp tuition for overnight campers includes all meals.

There will also be Half-Day Boys Lacrosse Academy, for boys aged 8-12. This Academy will be held August 4-7 and August 11-14, from 8:45am – 1:00pm.

The ACAC Boys Lacrosse Academy is directed by Al Sadtler, founder and director of the Seminole Lacrosse League, and 2001 Inductee into the Virginia Lacrosse Hall of Fame. The coaches of the academy are Hunter Price, Jim Loffredo and Richard Little. The coaches will provide a high level of instruction and skill development for all positions, video analysis and plenty of indoor and outdoor game time.

The ACAC Girls Lacrosse Academy is directed by Al Sadtler and coached by both Jennifer Harris,of the Blue Ridge Lacrosse Club, and Nancy Haws, Head WAHS Varsity Coach. This Academy provides a high level of instruction and skill development for all positions, video analysis and plenty of indoor and outdoor game time.

St. Anne’s-Belfield will be offering four different Summer Lacrosse Camps this year, for Youth players of just about any age. The camps kick off on June 4th with the Boys’ and Girls’ New Stars Evening Lacrosse Camp, for those from kindergarten through the third grade. The St. Anne�??s Belfield Boys’ Day Lacrosse Camp is for participants from 1st to 4th grades, and features a morning of lacrosse instruction as well as lunch.

Doug Tarring returns with his Doug Tarring’s Boys’ Evening Lacrosse Camps places emphasis on fundamentals, drills, and competitive play for players from the 4th through 10th grades. Finally, the St. Anne�??s Belfield Boys’ Lacrosse Camp gives player in the 4th through 9th grades the opportunity to learn the great game of lacrosse from some of the best players in the area.

The Lacrosse Academy announces its 20th year of developing lacrosse talent, as well as a move to a new home at the Blue Ridge School. There will be one session in Virginia from Sunday, June 24 to Wednesday, June 27, 2007, providing a proven teaching program for boys ages 10 to 18.

Recognizing that young players benefit from individual attention, the Lacrosse Academy was the first camp to offer private lessions. Each camper receives two 20-minute private lessons. No other camp offers more individual instruction. Newer players don’t get lost in the crowd as there is a entire divison dedicated to them, with coaches that are handpicked for not only their their lacrosse skills, but more importantly, their ability to teach as well.

The Lacrosse Academy’s comprehensive individualized teaching progression serves the needs of beginning, intermediate and older, less experienced players. All players are individually evaluated, then progress through daily, fundamental station work, individual positional work, competitive position drills, systematic unsettled play concepts and, finally, team play, where new skills and concepts are applied. The Academy also features daily specialized coaching in goalie play and face-offs.

The Lacrosse Academy is directed by Mike Caravana, Head Coach Woodberry Forest School, and Doug Bartlett, former Head Coach at VMI.

Julie Myers, Head Coach for the Virginia Women’s Lacrosse program, has announced that the UVa Coaching staff will host a weekend lacrosse clinic on November 4th and 5th. The clinic, for all levels and ages, is designed to help players learn new techniques and sharpen their skills for the upcoming season. The cost for the clinic is $60 per player (payable at registration).

This is a great chance for players to spend time with a world-class coaching staff. The clinic will be at UVa’s new Lower Turf Field near University Hall and run from Noon to 2:00pm each day.
